Sustainability Policy
BFP believes that forest resources should be managed to meet the social, economic, ecological, cultural and spiritual needs of present and future generations. To achieve this, BFP sell wood products that could be traced to sources whose forest management systems are based on standards which take in to account International environmental, ecological, biodiversity, social and economic needs.
The prime objectives of its Environmental Policy are –
1) BFP is committed to the responsible distribution of Wood and Wood Panel products. It aims to distribute any and all forest products sourced from well-managed forests that have been certified to credible certification standards such as FSC® etc,
2) BFP always discourage its sourcing and distribution or trade in any wood and wood panel product derived from:
- Forests or forest product suppliers that do not comply with all relevant national legislation relating to the trade in forest products,
- Old-growth forests are progressing towards credible forest certification in a time-bound, stepwise and transparent manner.
- Protected areas, parks or similar areas where harvesting operations are not complementary to responsible forest management.
- Forests which are currently being converted to other land uses, or forests that have been converted to plantations.
- Forests which are in areas of armed conflict or civil unrest, where there is a direct relationship between the forest products trade and the funding of such conflicts.
- Genetically modified trees, being the tress originating from recombinant transgenic techniques.
- Wood that has been harvested illegally.
